Summer Update

We have been to two baptisms so far this summer, one for a new member of our ward and one for my cousin’s son Hakan. We also got to see his sister blessed and visit with family.

We celebrated our ninth anniversary.

Aiden has been helping Daddy.

Hammer Madness

We visited the County Fair on their food drive day so our admission was nonperishable food and rides were only $1. We saw exhibits like trains and gardening…

There was a petting zoo with llamas, pigs, rabbits, a fawn, and more.

It’s the first time I remember going to the county fair, and it was pretty fun to walk around. It was also the perfect day, a little overcast part of the day and low 70’s. Summer sure is treating us well!

I’ve always loved the idea of summer…

Just imagine how much cooler I’ll be in summer!

Okay, sorry. That Olaf song has been stuck in my head for two days.

It IS finally summer, after all! We are thoroughly enjoying it!

We took a family trip to walk around the temple, take pictures, talk, and enjoy the gorgeous day. We stopped for ice cream at the Ice Creamery on the way home.

Aiden is taking swim lessons for the first time at the Aquatic Center in Newark. He likes them so far, but he doesn’t like being cold after he gets out and we head home.

It has been pretty warm but not sweltering, hovering around 80 for a few days. We have spent time keeping cool in our wading pool in the yard, a friend’s pool, and under the fans in our house. Aiden likes showing off his “swimming skills” in the tub too. LOVE these wrinkly baby feet…

What else have we been doing? The boys and I have been settling into a nice routine of swim lessons in the morning, walking a few miles through the neighborhood and around the Lake, tackling projects like (re)sorting boy clothes, “homework” (Preschool skills like tracing, coloring, counting, shape recognition, letters, etc.), and house projects.

This is the face of “why am I not eating right now?” I get this face from him a LOT. Landon LOVES to eat.

Filling up the green bin every week as we start to work on our yard… and what teacher doesn’t work on curriculum over the break?

We have some fun things planned this summer and are relishing the little moments every day. Happy summer break, everyone!

Happy birthday, Isaac!

We both went to work on his birthday, but in the evening, we celebrated with dinner at Claim Jumper and gifts/conversation at home afterwards.

Landon was really happy at the restaurant…

L: 7 months old

At seven months old, Landon is 16 pounds. He is long and lean. His eyes are kind of hazel, but we’re still watching them change.

DSC_9862

He loves to jump, swing, and be carried. He is not interested in crawling and doesn’t even like to be on the ground anymore unless someone is there with him, and sometimes not even that is good enough to make him enjoy tummy time.

DSC_9869

He is a very happy baby. He requires a lot of attention and is in some ways more demanding than I remember Aiden being, but he has a 100-watt smile, loves to cuddle, and stays happy as long as he is fed often. He really LOVES to eat. We still haven’t given him anything he wouldn’t eat.

DSC_9873

He is sitting pretty well, but we still keep within arm’s length of him most of the time, and he’s pretty good at rolling. It’s fun to see how different he is from Aiden already. Aiden was very active, quick to learn physical things, strong, relatively quiet, a great sleeper, not a great eater… Landon just likes to be cuddled or doing something WITH the family, not a great sleeper (but pretty good), and a fantastic eater.

He babbles a lot, loves to touch (and put his mouth on) anything new and “exciting.” I gave him a sippy cup with a little water in it this weekend, and he joyfully soaked himself with it and did NOT want to give it up until he had spent twenty minutes “figuring it out.”

I am SO looking forward to this summer home with my boys. Only four more days of school!
