Jacob weighed in at 8 lb. 12.7 oz., more than a pound more than our next biggest baby (Landon) and almost two pounds more than our lightest (Aiden)! We’re quite smitten with our chubby baby.

And of course, the “Newark Mile 4K” was fun for Aiden. Isaac ran too, but I don’t think he enjoyed it as much as Aiden. Aiden beat his 2017 time by about two minutes.
Charlotte had a lot of fun on her birthday this year. The boys helped decorate the night before, and she was especially excited to have balloons to play with. We converted her crib (which she doesn’t climb out of still) into a toddler bed, and she LOVES the freedom (me, maybe not so much…). She had one set of grandparents and Uncle Patrick over for a lunch of some of her favorite foods (various fruit, steak…), and Grandma made her a chocolate birthday cake that she loved. It doesn’t take much to make this sweet girl super happy, but she was particularly enamored with the new clothes she received.

Charlotte loves to talk, play with her brothers, and look at books. She is very loving and gives hugs freely and often to her family. She sings, but only when she is in the mood to, and likes to dance around the house and in her car seat. She sweetly refers to her brothers as “her boys,” and often cheers “It’s my Landon!” when we pick him up from school. While sweet most of the time, she won’t let her brothers get away with anything she thinks is wrong or unfair and will loudly protest. She likes to play outside and get dirty but also likes to dress up and have her hair done. Mostly, she really wants to be involved in whatever everyone else is doing. We love her to pieces!
We got to visit the Binghams and Kobersteins in the Seattle area this summer, and we are so grateful to all of them for making time for us!
We got to be there for Henry’s first birthday and then for Mandy’s birthday too.
We had so much fun, it was hard to come back and go right back to work and school, but we’re trying to focus on all the great things this fall will bring too!
After Disneyland, Isaac and I decided to head south about an hour and take the kids to Legoland. None of us had been there before, so it was a new experience for everyone.
There were several boat rides (we did at least three) and other attractions, many of which Charlotte and/or I couldn’t do, but the boys were able to do a lot.
MiniLand USA is a series of replicas of famous world landmarks, complete with “people” and moving parts. The kids liked the places with buttons they could push to make a sound or action.
The boys also really liked all the Star Wars replicas we found. There was a lot to see at Legoland, but Star Wars creations were definitely some of their favorites.
There were also a few building areas scattered throughout the park where kids could use the Legos available to create something. They really liked building boats and then launching them.
Ninjago was the kids’ other favorite area. The ride was a 3D interactive kind of ride, and Landon did lots better than all of us the first time, but of course we had to ride again, and then Isaac copied Landon’s moves and came up with a better point-gaining system. They also liked climbing the mini rock wall around the corner.
We finished up the day with frozen yogurt from a place near the hotel, and we enjoyed sleeping in comfortable beds and watching HG-TV (Okay, maybe that was just me).
Charlotte thought this Darth Vader was scary.
We did just a half day the second day and then headed home, about eight hours in the car with a stop for Cafe Rio. Everyone had fun, but we definitely wore everyone out too! It was nice to get home and sleep in our own beds again.
