Happy Halloween!

I wore jammies like Boo… and the hat we made for our late arrival, Mike Wazowski. Isaac was the Yeti, complete with lemon flavored snow cones. Brooke and Jon have much more recognizable costumes for sure. Smile

His Own Timeline

Baby has us all fooled. Or maybe he knows we haven’t decided on his name yet. Or that I just finished decorating his room today. Who knows. In any case, he’s left us hanging for what feels like a very long time now.

I am not as patient as I should be. To keep busy, I have spent the past five days being tested in the hospital (everything seems normal), baking (a pie and several batches of cookies)…

In the meantime, everyone else around here has been putting millions of hours into the house. I know they are doing it to make me happy, and I can’t express how much I appreciate their countless hours of selfless service.

The stairwell and landing have been textured and painted, the baby’s room is nearly done, and the master bath is well on its way. Our house remodel is getting so close to being finished!

Now accepting predictions for when Baby Snow #2 will make his appearance. Don’t ask if he has a name yet; he doesn’t. Poor kid.

His due date is Oct. 24. Aiden was four days late. Everything has been normal so far. That’s all you have to go on… may the best guesser win!

Projects in Progress

We tore out two old windows, one of which had seriously bad termite damage and needed lots of reframing. We were SO fortunate to have someone in our stake who is a contractor offer us a big window which had been sitting in his garage for free.

DSC_6700

DSC_6694DSC_6698We still have to take care of the stucco outside, but all the inside work is done.

Isaac tore out the old linen cabinets, which didn’t offer very much space. He and my mom built new cabinets and installed them. We still have to do the finish work, but it’s sure nice to have so much more storage!

Now Isaac has been working on ripping out our third (and final!) bathroom. Jon E. and Aiden helped him out this week. Hopefully we can get it all put back together in the next few weeks before getting busy with other things!

Aiden’s Room!

Aiden’s room has been our most recent project. It has been one of the more fun rooms, small enough to not require ridiculous numbers of decisions and fun to decorate, knowing what kinds of things he loves.

Originally, the room was a dark purple… on most of the walls. It had 30ish year old carpeted, this ceiling fan, wires up and down the walls, and an old single-pane window. We tore up the carpet and baseboards, refinished the hardwood, and replaced the window with a double-pane window.

My parents scraped the acoustic ceiling and retextured it. Isaac got rid of/moved the wires, crawling around in the attic space. He reframed, mudded, textured, and primed around the window.

Aiden3

That purple needed two coats of primer before painting.

Isaac painted the whole room blue and white, changed out the old electrical plugs and plates that had been painted, and installed a new ceiling fan.

We got rid of the bent old curtain rod and purple curtains and installed new blinds. My mom painted a wall border reminiscent of the checkered flags used in racing.

We put in new baseboards, and my mom made a window valance from material with Disney Cars. Aiden is graduating to a big boy bed, and we moved in his furniture.

We decorated with letters to spell out his name, Cars pictures, and wall stickers from Grandma Snow.

He slept in his new bed last night, and he has spent most of the day in his room. I unpacked a few boxes of his things, and he loves having toys that he hasn’t seen in months. Here’s hoping he continues to sleep well in his new room!

The Most Recent Scoop

We had beef tartare. Well… Brooke and Jon made beef tartare, and Isaac tried it with them, and Aiden and I had some cooked beef. It was pretty delicious.

DSC_6733

We got a new bookcase for the family room… and filled it up immediately.

DSC_6740

Aiden is potty training. He’s doing very well with going number one and has only peed his pants two or three times since we started last weekend… sadly he has an issue with number two… fingers crossed for Aiden!

I am back to work, and I want to be ready for my leave in about a month. We’ll see how it goes. My students are great so far, and I have a sub lined up, so I just have to get cracking on planning and copying and organizing everything.

Here’s a hint at our next post… something Isaac and my mom have been very busy with for the past week.

San Francisco Treat

We drove past It’s It recently, and Isaac had no idea what it was. I was a little surprised. Then again, it’s a San Francisco thing, so I guess not every Target and supermarket across the country carries it even though lots of ours do. An It’s It is an ice cream treat… ice cream in a sandwich made of oatmeal cookies, covered in chocolate.

Last week, I saw these in the store and had to let Isaac have the It’s It experience.

Missed experience remedied!
