28 Months Old

Okay, we’re not really counting months anymore, but you know. I love being home with him during the summer, even if I’m taking 20 something credits and spend nap time and evenings reading and writing papers. He is most talkative and funny in the morning, and I feel like I’m just seeing this. He’s the same on the weekends, but Sundays we are up and running to church, and Saturdays go so quickly, I guess seeing him every morning just strikes me with his cute personality. Maybe he’s a morning person.

He likes stickers. Here he is excited about stickers from Aunt Sarah, his aunt serving as a missionary for our church right now.

He also loves markers lately. I’m nervous about the mess that can cause, so he only uses them in moderation, one at a time, under supervision. He got some marker on his hand anyway, so I handed him a wipe to clean up a little while I put the markers away. The phone rang, and I was gone a few minutes longer than planned, but I figured he’d be fine.

Ha ha.

He was NOT loving baths lately, so I introduced bubble baths. Miracle. He loves baths now.

Aiden wants to be like Daddy. He insisted on doing his hair with gel the other day. The only caveat is that he wants to do it himself… so it didn’t look like Daddy’s for very long.

I also caught him about to slide Daddy’s razor down his face. Scary moment for me. I think I let out a squeal and made him cry, but that moment is all a blur now. Suffice it to say, he is fine.

I have yearbook camp next week to learn about making yearbooks since I am teaching the class next year for the first time. I’m really excited, but it’s going to be a long week away from Aiden. Thank goodness his Uncle Patrick is willing to come hang out with him!

Warm Weather

While I understand much of the country has been going through a mighty heat wave, we have topped out at about 80, and it’s actually been very pleasant most of the time. We are blessed to live in such a lovely place. We have been enjoying the weather (and my time at home) with little day trip excursions, trips out to our pool twice a week, and plenty of fun playing together.

Maggie Moo’s for a tasty treat! I loved their red velvet cake ice cream…

Happy by-product of lots of running around outdoors…

This Tiger Swallowtail butterfly flies around our quad all the time. We watch it every day.
DSC_3525Aiden loves his cars so much, we can barely get him out of the house without one, and he even asks for “two cars!” before bed.

Anyone else loving the corn on the cob? It’s one of those symbols of summer to me, and we are enjoying it immensely. Thanks for the awesome butter-er, Brooke and Jon!

Here’s our fourth of July… Normally, we have a little more planned, but when we woke up, Aiden had a fever of over a hundred, and he was miserable. We think he’s getting his two-year molars. Sad smile Poor kid.

On other news, we are both still taking classes. I am 2/3 of the way through my masters program. I was recently asked to be English department chair and to teach the yearbook class next year, which I am really excited about. We are all doing lots of reading. Aiden has been better about sitting for books lately, depending upon his mood, but especially anything to do with cars, ha.

Enjoying the Summer

The only way he will go up onto a play structure once he gets comfortable there is by hiking up the slide.

He says “Weeeeee!” almost every time, ha

7 years

We had our seventh anniversary in June. Seven is a lucky number, so Isaac figures this next year is bound to bring some great things.

DSC_3507

We celebrated by going to church and attending a baptism and spending time at home with our little family.

It was funny going through all the wedding planning and events with Mandy lately because on one hand, it doesn’t seem like it was really seven years ago that it was us in their shoes, but on the other, it seems like it was a long time ago. Does that make sense?

Anyway, here’s to lots more!

Mandy & Bryant

Okay, so I had to change the audio track, so ignore that the music is not ideal.

Aiden’s First Movie

002ed
(Don't worry--Isaac took this picture during the credits when most people were gone)
We took Aiden to the movies for the first time (okay, besides that time he was tiny and slept through most of it—this is the first time it was for Aiden’s viewing pleasure). We went to Century’s Kids’ Club cheap morning movie thing because they were showing Rio, which he has seen and liked. Then we went to the pet store to look at the birds and fish. It was a pretty fun little outing.

The Binghams

My little sister is a married lady! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, but everyone survived, and as my dad says, “At the end of the day, they’re married.” That’s the most important thing.

Getting ready… Aiden pointed to the pink socks and said, “Mommy’s socks.” Nope, sorry, mister.

I had nothing to do with the decoration of their car, but I like their faces as they see it.

Kudos to Danielle for noticing that the evening ended with a gorgeous sunset in their wedding colors
